Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations - Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York - plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

Summary:

This role will be responsible for managing, recruiting and boarding volunteers for Norwalk Hospital. The role assists Norwalk Hospital Director of Patient Experience and to achieve hospital and department goals by recruiting for high value, long term volunteers to improve the experience of our patients and families and to amplify the impact of our employees and medical staff.

This role will be expected to construct a robust volunteer portfolio to introduce or make more reliable, specialty volunteer roles like pet therapy, art / music therapy, guided meditation in addition to traditional supportive volunteer roles. The first year goal will be to develop coverage options such that each inpatient (condition dependent) is offered one memorable and deeply personal volunteer encounter before they are discharged to home.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

1.Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, placing and training adult and student volunteers.

2.Manage strategic projects within clinical units and areas that facilitate quality and patient experience improvement using volunteers.

3.Maintain effective, positive, customer service relationships by identifying opportunities for volunteers. Collaborate with department supervisors to create and recruit new volunteers.

4.Respond and resolve volunteer concerns and/or needs.

5.Manages onsite office volunteers for various departments. Assures materials are available to prepare admission packets etc.

6.Ensures volunteer staff are in compliance with mandatory training and documentation.

7.Create volunteer roles that will have a direct positive impact for our patients and staff.

8.Ensures engagement of Patient and Family Advisory Committee meetings by leading PFAC meetings as requested by manager and engages to train and onboard new PFAC members to ensure they are able to maximize contributions.

Other information:

Required: Minimum of 2-3 years experience in an administrative role and excellent track record.

Works independently. Ability to multi-task and make decisions from staff and volunteer requests and able to prioritize work with a calm demeanor. Strong MS Outlook, Word, Excel and confident computer skills.

Excellent written and verbal skills. Confident communicator. Flexible and able to respond to multiple and changing demands with grace and a sense of humor.

Minimum Experience: five years Desired: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Demonstrated success engaging and coordinating volunteers. Superior written and oral communication skills. Ability to work effectively as a team member as well as independently. Ability to anticipate needs, see opportunities and use good judgement in dealing with confidential information.

This position oversees Norwalk Hospital campus
