Hope House wants to create a Minnesota where people from diverse gender, sexual, and cultural communities experience health and wellness in powerfully inclusive environments. Its vision is ambitious - that everyone can have safe, responsive health care regardless of disability, health condition(s), mental capacity, race, gender, or sexual identity.

Hope House is a MN state licensed 245D adult foster care service provider. Our program is set in a residential community living setting. We assists residents with daily living activities.

To respond to the dynamic and evolving needs of our communities and clients, Hope House offers holistic programming in the areas of prevention, empowerment, and advocacy to the HIV-positive and LGBTQ communities. The project focuses on developing a volunteer program, engaging the community, marketing our expanded services through increased community awareness participation in community events as well as agency events. This project will create an extensive community outreach plan to identify and initiate potential partnerships and/or develop volunteer opportunities with community partners, social groups, faith-based organizations, small businesses, minority affinity groups & associations as well as corporations to educate and engage the community.

These outreach efforts would result in increased HIV education/awareness in minority communities which would result in a decrease in the spread of HIV/AIDS in marginalized communities, an increase referrals to home and community based services and programs, increased prescriptions for preventive medications such as PreP, increased utilization of free services within the community, reduction in the number of AIDS/HIV related deaths, and potential reduction in homelessness rate in MN due to increased knowledge about the variety of programs and housing services provided. Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop a volunteer recruitment and management program, with a focus on recruiting diverse populations, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, faith-based communities, social groups/organizations, and corporate volunteers. Develop materials and trainings for staff to create inclusive volunteer opportunities.

Research and advise on best practices for volunteer recruitment and community engagement. Create systems and documents to improve volunteer management and community engagement processes. Manage volunteers at community events in collaboration with the Development & Event Manager. Secure in-kind gifts for programs and events.
