This position is responsible for assisting with developing, coordinating, and participating in the implementation of a program of vocational activities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position functions as an assistant worker of activities for the assigned Vocational Services area. In addition, this position will serve clients from home and community settings who are enrolled in short-term assessment and medical care units.

Special Notes:

Due to the nature of this position, all applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include, but are not limited to: lifting 55 pounds, sitting, kneeling, and stooping. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.


Minimally qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

  • Experience working as part of a team.

  • Working in a vocational, educational, or therapeutic setting.

  • The ability to recognize problems and implement problem-solving techniques.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

Well-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, or Access for data entry purposes.

  • Working with adaptive equipment for training purposes.
