Most positions offer the flexibility of a hybrid schedule that combines working from home with regular in-office and/ or community presence. In-person work requirements may change for training, meetings, and other operational needs. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements. Daytime travel within Ohio may be required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver's license.

Who We Are:

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). A fourth area is the Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), which is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers.

Division Overview:

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)

The Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation provides vocational rehabilitation (VR) services to eligible individuals with disabilities to assist them to attain and maintain competitive integrated employment. OOD works with adults seeking to enter the workforce or retain a job, and with youth beginning at age 14 to assist them as they transition from high school into college and/or the workplace. Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor Position Overview:

Provides direct supervision to vocational rehabilitation staff; onboards and trains new staff; monitors and evaluates employee performance; oversees implementation of policies and procedures; reviews and guides vocational rehabilitation casework; develops partnerships with community stakeholders; coordinates outreach efforts to promote OOD services.

Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor Duties:

  • Evaluates employee performance through the review of completed work assignments.

  • Identifies staff development and training needs, and ensures staff training is completed.

  • Reviews and prepares reports, and composes correspondence related to the work.

  • Reviews the quality of services being provided by vocational rehabilitation staff.

  • Supervises casework in accordance with the policies and procedures of the agency.

  • Serves as liaison with various community rehabilitation program providers.

  • Is able to think critically and make decisions independently;

3 years' experience as Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor or Vocational Rehabilitation Program Specialist with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities.

OR

Completion of undergraduate core program in human services area AND 5 years' experience in private/governmental agency in position providing direct counseling services.

OR

Completion of graduate core program in human services area AND 4 years' experience in private/governmental agency in a position providing direct counseling services.

OR

Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
