Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor 3

The Position

Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess vocational rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; provide counseling and advocacy services; provide appropriate job placement; and determine employment outcome in order to minimize disabling conditions and reduce dependency for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

The incumbent will provide comprehensive case management services, which involve evaluating clients' vocational goals, assisting them in adjusting to blindness through counseling, and offering career guidance. In addition, the incumbent will develop personalized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clients, outlining clear objectives and strategies to achieve their vocational aspirations; oversee the financial aspects of service provision to ensure clients have access to necessary resources and funding to support their vocational rehabilitation; facilitate services for individuals with visual impairment which lead to securing suitable employment opportunities.
