Description of Work

This Vocational Evaluator position will be located in Nash county office. The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational evaluation assessments and evaluations to consumers with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experience in order to assist with job planning and placement. This position works directly with the clients, Rehabilitation Counselors, and the business community to increase and promote the hiring of individuals with disabilities and to achieve agency outcomes. This position reports to the Unit Manager or designee.

Jobresponsibilities include the following:

  • Marketing their services to the counseling staff to obtain referrals of clients in need of evaluations, community-based assessment, job analysis and placement services

  • Administering, scoring, and interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interests, achievements, and psychological tests

  • Analyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational and educational information

  • Developing a formal evaluation plan for each client

  • Creating written reports outlining vocational aptitudes, interests, and abilities which are foundational to the vocational planning process

  • Gathering occupational resource information for better service deliverables

  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees for exchange of information and planning

  • Partnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contacts

  • Performing other duties as assigned

This position requires the followingKSA's:

  • Demonstratedknowledge of the psychological, social and special education concepts related to the determination of vocational abilities and potential of persons with disabilities

  • Considerable knowledge of tests and measurement and/or assessment including but not limited to standardization, reliability, validity, systematic behavioral observation and related concepts

  • Provenability to synthesize data and observation reports in order to make recommendations

  • Proven ability to express findings and make recommendations with oral/written clarity

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling or closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution;


Bachelor's degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or a closely related human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities;


An equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters. This position provides administrative supervision and managerial direction to the Driver Services District Managers and other DMV Driver Services personnel across the Eastern Region of North Carolina, consisting of Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4. This position is accountable for the Driver Services Offices in their districts. This position is responsible for planning and managing the following: personnel, fiscal resources, space, work methods and procedures; contract management; program development; strategic planning; setting goals and objectives and implementing changes. Coordinating the logistics of training for changes in the law, policy, and procedures.
