What does a great Senior Virtualization Systems Engineer do?
Project Engineering, including requirements gathering, feasibility and gap analysis, and solution development
Expert in Microsoft Server and VMware technologies, including AD,DNS, DFS, vCenter, vSAN, ESXi, Dell Server platform, Dell OME, & vRealize
Technical Blueprints, including the specification of landscape, network, server, virtualization, software installation, and procurement details for internal customer deployment projects
Consulting, including conducting research and providing advice on technical aspects
3rd Level Support Escalations, where Design and Engineering solves the toughest technical problems when the infrastructure support teams need additional engineering help.
Responsibility for Fiserv's corporate computing systems, including Private Cloud platforms, Hyper-converged Infrastructure, Remote Desktop Servers, Active Directory, VMWare hosts, Physical and Virtual Windows Servers, as well as underlying infrastructure technologies.
Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
High School/GED diploma
10 plus years of technical experience in a similar role
10 plus years of experience supporting complex environments with the following criteria:
Experience working in an environment with over 3,000 servers
Experience working in an environment with over 25,000 users
Experience working in an multi-forest environment (5 Active Directory Forests)
300 plus ESXi hosts
Experience working in an multiple vCenter environments
Current enterprise-class infrastructure / system engineering experience
Experience in a multi business unit or multi-tenant environment
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related discipline
Clear understanding of Service Management processes
Experience in PCI and/or SOX environments
Dedication to providing value to customers
The ability to deliver a task regardless of hurdles encountered
Have self-motivation and be a self-starter
Great communication and organization skills
Having the ability to lead an outage call to achieve the fastest time to bring the outage to a closure
Participate in rotating on-call schedule
