Our team is seeking an energetic person to perform the role of Staff VMware Information Systems engineer, responsible for a 7 x 24 operation, which includes a global customer base. They will have the opportunity to provide Engineering, architectural design, Level 3 guidance and lifecycle management for our VMWare virtualization environment to help drive us well into the future.
What you'll do:
We are looking for a Staff Level VMware Information Systems Engineer with at least 4 to 8 years' experience in VMware Engineering and Support. This role is to design, engineer and manage a 7,000 plus VDI infrastructure which is required to meet the business needs of a 24 by 7 operation. This also includes the management of Onshore, offshore and business critical services. In addition, they will engineer the Infrastructure environment in order to meet the technical requirements for Schwab employees, Professional Services and those clients in India (and internationally). This individual will design and manage a multiple domain environment (CS, CSDevEx, CSHosted, CSDev, PDV & e-Tell) infrastructure with numerous unique business requirements (Business Continuity, VDI On-Boarding, Information Technology Offshore (ITO), Business Processing Offshore (BPO), Domestic Nearshoring, Etc.). The candidate must have a background in VMware & multiple versions of Windows, and be able to provide systems administration functions on customer facing production and/or development infrastructures. In addition, this role is responsible for currency of the VDI client, VDI Agent, capacity planning, and integration with other technology organizations within Schwab) (Storage, VIE, STS Security, ISRM, Access management, etc.). Strong organization skills and the ability to work independently are a must. This fluid environment is continually growing due to the diversity in requirements in support of onshore, offshore, contingent workforce & professional services disciplines which are, let alone geographical in time zone / locations.
What you have:
Experience be in VMware vSphere Administration (ESX 6/6.5) Experience with VMware Horizon View most current versions (Linked Clones, Floating/Persistent Pools)
Experienced in Capacity Planning, Requirement gathering & customized solutions required Experience with Business analysis, requirements gathering, process mechanics Experience with Desktop as a Service (DaaS)
Experience with compute, network and storage performance measurement and analysis Experience with GPO's (Computer\User) and Proxy setting and their impact based on security requirements Experienced with DNS\DHCP
Experience with International customers is strongly preferred Experience with Microsoft SCCM (software distribution, impacts to VDI environment)
Experience of scripting tools (Skills with scripting in PowerShell/PowerCLI preferred)
Experience with Windows Server and Desktop operating system expertise
Experience with large / distributed environments Experience with Lifecycle management
Experience with Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery Planning Experience with Data Center Optimization / Centralization Demonstrated experience in presenting solutions to Senior Management (Solid documentation, interpersonal skills, technology presentations, Business Process)
Understanding of Virtual templates and desktop Imaging
Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Understanding and experience with Anti-Virus and VDI Understanding of networking protocols (PCoIP, RDP, TCP, UDP, IP, ICA & Blast)
Understanding of shared Compute, Network and Storage resources for capacity and performance Base understanding of SAN technologies (FC, FCOE, iSCSI, NFS, Determining LUN sizes/layout based on IOPS requirements)
Must be able to manage multiple projects / technologies /security risks simultaneously
A plus if experienced with International customers
Detailed trouble shooting experience required additionally Lakeside Systrack Experience and/or tools such as Wire Shark, HTTP Watch, and Fiddler are a plus
Education / Certifications / Special Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical discipline Preferred.
VMWare certification is a Plus.
Previous experience in managing remote users / companies / international corporations preferred
Early shift maybe required.
