VISUAL SORT OPERATOR- Perform vision sorting and product packaging activities. Responsible to move parts scheduled to be sorted from staging area and load vision sorting machine hoppers to ensure production schedule requirements are achieved.
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Move parts to be sorted from staging area using forklift truck; load parts into sorting machines.
Follow parts sorting schedule developed by production control department and assigned by Packaging/Sorting Leader and Sorting Coordinator to run sorting jobs on appropriate machines; expedite parts flow to reflect changing production needs.
Maintain machine performance criteria through maintenance of vision process (i.e. cleaning and/or replacing glass dial, adjust feeder bowl, etc.)
Report completed transactions into tracking system
After part-sorting process is complete, place appropriate quantity/weight of good product into packaging cartons
Seal cartons, print labels per job order and customer requirements, and properly affix labels to sealed cartons
Palletize sorted, packaged, sealed and labeled product
Move product using forklift truck from sorting department to packaging department
Direct on-going housekeeping efforts of others within department
Adhere to company Quality Policy and follow appropriate procedures as documented in the training agreement
Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
Perform other related duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
High School education or equivalent experience plus 3 to 12 months of applied training
Use standard forklift trucks, hand trucks, basic hand tools, carton staple machine, scales, hand packaging and sealing equipment preferred, but not required
Must be able to use on-line (JD Edwards) and vision sorting computer equipment
Must be able to work from handwritten and verbal instructions, computer status reports, other departments' output reports, blueprints, and production order schedules.
Must be able to use basic hand tools and simple gauges
Must be a self-motivated team player with and an ability to commmunicate in written and spoken English
Must be a self-starter with solid organizational skills and a high level of reliability
