ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Visually inspect parts for surface finish quality, proper form and features, and for the presence of cracks, damage or other disqualifying defects.

  • Perform dimensional inspections as required, using micrometers, indicators, verniers, plug and thread gages and any special hand gaging equipment required.

  • Originate and maintain required inspection reports in specified form. Prepare necessary rework or salvage orders to request correction of discrepant parts.

  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and any unusual conditions to proper supervision.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.

  • Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.

  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.

  • *Perform all physical functions of position; standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, kneeling, turning and lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.

  • Meet established attendance standards.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

  • Use simple arithmetic including decimals and fractions.

  • Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, scheduled or similar information.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, test equipment or other devices where interpretation is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, twist, turn, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, stoop, bend, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

VIEW JOBS 11/3/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-01T00:00 FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Inspect, audit and collect data to facilitate process quality improvement activities at the Tilton operation. * Conduct rough inspection of castings after shell removal and wax gating inspection. * Effectively communicate with Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering employees. * Enter inspection data in to Escala or other computer system. * Conduct audits and investigations as directed by quality engineer or quality manager. * Conduct wax gating inspection and enter inspection data into Escala or other designated computer system. Conduct rough inspection of castings and enter inspection data into Escala or other designated computer system. Conduct work station audit and corrective action assembly inspection. * Participate in the Quality Planning function including the development of part inspection procedures, control plans and other activities to ensure product conformance and manufacturing efficiency. * Conduct internal audits to assure compliance to internal procedures. * Support efforts to identify root cause and corrective actions of quality problems. * Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality and other PCC departments to assure conforming product. * May perform other quality tasks as requested including calibration, inspection and training. * Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and nay unusual conditions to proper supervision. Follow prescribed safety regulations. Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. * Perform related duties of equal or less complexity as directed by supervision. * Must know and follow all departmental and company safety rules. NORMAL QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE * Use advanced shop mathematics, charts, tables and handbook formulas. * Work from complicated drawings, sketches and specifications. * Apply broad knowledge of a recognized trade, craft or technical field. Equivalent to complete accredited 4-year apprenticeship. EXPERIENCE * High school graduate or equivalent. * Good in mathematics. * Ability to read blueprints and to understand specifications. Know how to use standard measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, height gauges, electronic calculator etc. * Inspection experience, preferably Visual Inspection. Wax Gating experience a plus. * Computer skills including Escala and Excel. * Ability to work independently. * At least 2 years of related work. PHYSICAL DEMAND Light physical effort equivalent to occasionally lifting or moving light-weight parts or materials.
