Visual Designer // Studio Staff

Work you'll do

As a Visual Designer in our practice you will:

  • Be responsible for details of production files, minimal client interaction, and capable of serving as a designer on projects with oversight from others on the Design team

  • Develop your skills through training courses and mentoring

  • Demonstrate a clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing your craft; constantly challenging the definition of what makes good design

  • Think and solve visual challenges creatively

  • Take responsibility for developing aesthetically pleasing and user-focused designs

  • Work closely with both internal cross-functional teams and external clients on projects of varying length and complexity

  • Utilize your advanced communication skills, working with designers to get the information you need to keep your vision moving along smoothly

  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products

  • Work comfortably and amicably with other project team members

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2-5 years of design experience

  • Portfolio that shows examples of project or personal work, including but not limited to sketches, branding, visual designs, mobile and web layouts, wireframes

  • Experience creating designs, from concept through prototyping, with modern programs or technologies such as, but not limited to Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Marvel, and Principle

  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines

  • Well-rounded knowledge of design principles and techniques

  • Ability to organize and self-direct to get things done

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:

  • Prior professional services or federal consulting experience

  • Ability to design and build clickable and/or animated prototypes using modern tools such as, but not limited to InVision, Marvel, FRAMER.js, Principle or After Effects

  • Experience with desktop, web and mobile applications and frameworks i.e. iOS, Android, Windows Phone, webOS, Bootstrap, etc.

  • Familiarity or experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and working in Agile environments

And our work depends on an Audio Visual Conferencing (VTC) Systems Administrator joining our FDIC infrastructure team in Washington, DC. U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. GDIT provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. GDIT supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC team provides support to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies across the IT spectra. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Employees are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements- not managing day to day, same technology operations. Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following: * Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical specifications and instructions to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences. Documentation may include: policies, process maps, procedures, work instructions, product user manuals, operations or service manuals, or technical publications. * Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to information technology related technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. * Completes preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts for documentation. * Monitors all communication channels for incoming work requests and resolve or escalate customer requests within team standards for response. * Accurately records and provides daily/weekly metrics to report individual and team level metrics related to content management and knowledge usage within the supported organization. * Links routine information in databases, knowledge bases, intranet web portals, and historical records to ensure organizational information needs are met. * Develops and maintains moderately complex to complex knowledge assets/objects in web-based knowledge repositories leveraging templates and containers. * Documents, communicates, and coordinates activities of small teams (2-4) to accomplish project milestones according to established project plans. * Facilitates meetings with peers, support staff, and customer senior managers to identify business requirements for improvement of knowledge base and document management applications and web portals. * Review compliance reports for documentation usage metrics and provide trend analysis results to technical teams to support followup coaching activities and to identify knowledge gaps. * Serves as point of contact for routine to moderately complex knowledge needs and for deployment of knowledge tools and processes to ensure company information needs are met. * Provide on-demand training to customer and operations support staff for use of knowledge base applications and web portals used for collaboration. * Capture meeting minutes, update request tickets, and provide pre and post meeting followups to support Change and Engineering review boards in accordance with customer change management process. * Hiring activities including submission of candidates for approval, labor category deviations, collection/analysis of data for weekly tracking and presentation. * On-boarding activities including requests for start dates, accounts, equipment, access, etc. * New staff member orientation through provision of orientation sessions, materials development, employment verification, etc. * Submission of employee requests for wireless services, travel approval, seating, furniture replacement, ad hoc purchases, etc. * Submission of requests for password/account resets, extensions, etc. * Off-boarding activities including notice of exit and coordination with government Administrative Officer, collection of equipment from departing employee, coordination of exist for remote employees, off-boarding meetings, return of government furnished equipment, etc. * Appropriate management of sensitive and confidential employee information. * Deliverables management and tracking. May include creation of weekly PMO deliverables as well as delivery of non-PMO deliverables. * Documentation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures. Once documented, enforces adherence to SOPs. * Creation and maintenance of program records to ensure accuracy and adequacy of all documentation. * Provision of All Hands Meetings on a quarterly and annual basis. Working with FDIC facilities to arrange space, determines and arranges food, IT support, setup, cleanup, etc. * Adherence to all FDIC policies/requirements governing contractors on-boarding/off-boarding, password/account provision, access management, etc. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience in operation and configuration of audio-visual and Telepresence systems. * Excellent customer presence as well as verbal and written communication skills. * Polycom VTC and Cisco/Tandberg VTC , VBrick experience . * Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex VTC problems * Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Ability to meet internal paperwork requirements. * Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in VTC and troubleshooting and support. * Comprehensive knowledge of related hardware and software. * Ability to use independent judgment when there are no policies or procedures in place. * Ability to apply common sense understanding and deal with problems involving multiple variables in a variety of situations. * Exceptional electronic spreadsheet construction skills. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification. * Experience in a forward-facing customer support role.
