Jack Wolfskin, a global eco-performance apparel, footwear and equipment brand, was founded in 1981 on the tenants of product sustainability, performance and quality. The company is now one of the major suppliers of outdoor products across the world with a versatile portfolio of smartly- and sustainably-engineered technologies, including its popular Texapore group of materials. Jack Wolfskin is headquartered in Idstein, Germany, and is expanding to North America with an office opening in Park City, Utah.


Under the general direction of the Director of Marketing, the Visual Designer will conceive designs for a variety of platforms and media interfaces for Jack Wolfskin North America. Incumbent will be experienced with brand development, wireframing, design ideation, prototyping, iconography and asset production. This is a highly collaborative roll with the Director of eCommerce to create and optimize onsite experiences and interactions.


  • Help to develop the digital brand and identity strategy for Jack Wolfskin North America team.

  • Ideation through storytelling and rapid prototyping methods, ranging

  • from paper sketching to digital prototyping.

  • Develop the Visual Interface Design through personas, storyboards, scenarios, mood boards, iconography, photography and illustrations.

  • Transform high-level requirements into interaction flows and artifacts.

  • Create interaction models, wireframes and screen mockups.

  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering.

  • Create assets for all digital channels including email, social, paid.

  • Collaborate with parent company to manage Style Guide for onsite experience; create light weighed style guides and robust design systems to promote one consistent visual direction.

  • Work directly with customers and prospects to design end-to-end experiences using participatory and iterative design techniques including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of qualitative and quantitative research to uncover insights, learn about user behavior and verify design concepts.

  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented.

  • Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, project management, business and brand strategists, and hardware and software developers.

  • Conceives designs and lays out routine advertising, collateral materials and in-store graphics while ensuring the output quality is consistent with the company standards and goals.

  • Prepare electronic design files for output. Maintain file archives to ensure ease of retrieval and future use.

  • Manage the purchase of all print and print related services while ensuring cost efficiencies and maintaining and developing vendor relations. Research new technologies, material and methods to improve quality, cost and time.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong background in design with proven track record.

  • Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.

  • Must know Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. MAC and PC platforms.

  • Proficiency in Figma, invision, Zeplin basic knowledge of CSS and HTML.

  • Have a strong understanding of information architectures and user centered design principles.

  • Must be extremely flexible and open to listening to ideas from numerous individuals with the distinct ability to "change course" midstream and make modifications as requested by customers.

  • Excellent communication skills and a problem-solving mindset.

  • Highly creative and motivated to produce superior creative.

  • Skilled at thinking creatively outside the box.

  • Ability to take ideas from inception to design to production.

  • Highly meticulous/very detailed oriented.

  • Must be a self-starter.

  • Excellent teamwork.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or equivalent experience and 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Digital agency, lifestyle or technical experience preferred.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

We create new and unique brands and products to offer compelling product to our customers and drive profitability. We are seeking a Sr. Technical Designer with experience in men's and women's apparel (emphasis on outdoor) fit and construction, who can roll up their sleeves and help execute on the strategic initiatives of the division. This role will report to the Director of Sourcing, Owned Brands. About the Job: * Ability to drive and manage multiple projects from conception through design, development and start of production ensuring brand quality standards and design intent are met * Partner closely with sourcing team to ensure product is meeting cost targets * Monitor and manage product development timeline to ensure department goals are met * You will own the fit process. Schedule and lead fit and construction meetings with product team * Manage commercialization process: track samples, schedule fitting, review and measure prototypes/sales samples for workmanship, construction, fit, and production feasibility and communicate with factories. * Collaborate with Design in initial stages of tech pack development; Ensure BOM, specs, measurements, and construction details are accurately maintained and communicated from first proto to production * Mentor and clearly communicate processes, procedures, and technical skills with Junior Tech Designers * Build new product specifications including full graded measurements and detailed technical sketches including full construction ISO callouts * Recommend construction techniques that meet Design expectations and engineer the product to pre-determined gross margin targets, FOB including pre-cost estimates, first costs through to final cost. * Manage the approval of lab dips, handlooms, yarn dyes, sublimation, etc. – provide feedback to mills and factories * Maintain all records, style files, Bill of Materials, and samples associated with the product and related programs * Create, manipulate, and modify technical drawings using Adobe Illustrator * Coordinate and conduct on-model fit reviews to ensure products meet brand fit guidelines * Take clear and detailed notes and photos during fittings; ability to articulate the fit issues to various stakeholders and present solutions * Initiate and maintain daily communication with factories to ensure integrity of design-approved prototypes; including monitoring quality, responding to all technical questions, communicating any required changes * Correct factory patterns and apply grade rules as necessary * Able to conduct after hours skype meetings with factories * Performs these and other duties as assigned About you: * Bachelor's degree in apparel or related experience * 7 years of garment industry experience, outdoor apparel experience a plus * Detail oriented with outstanding follow-through * Demonstrate a solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and product development lifecycle * Self-motivated and has the ability to work in a fast-paced, result-oriented team environment * Maintain current passport * Willing to travel internationally/domestically up to 30% * Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (sketching), MS Office, Word, Excel, and PLM system * Ability to apply technical knowledge to various apparel categories and sizes * Exceptional written, oral and face-to-face communication skills * Deadline driven and extremely detail oriented Back Country Store Park City UT
