Position Description: YWCA Tulsa works works to address break cycles of poverty by addressing issues of racial and gender disparities in wellness, wealth and education.
The VISTA Volunteer Coordinator will increase the capacity of YWCA Tulsa to increase opportunities for women, minorities and other individuals by helping to build a volunteer management and engagement program to include opportunities for engaging volunteers as mentors for minority youth and engaging current clients, including our Family Literacy program, and identifying opportunities across all programs for better volunteer engagement.
Knowledge of volunteerism and volunteer management best practices.
The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities and organizations.
Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills.
Must be organized and flexible.
Be an advocate for the mission, values and goals of YWCA Tulsa.
Work with program staff to assess current volunteer needs and opportunities for volunteer engagement in the future.
Establish methods of engaging volunteers with those programs and identify ways for us to recruit volunteers for those needs.
Build a volunteer ambassador program 4.
Develop a system for managing and tracking volunteer engagement across the varying levels of support.
Build a volunteer application form that is suitable for short-term and long-term volunteer needs.
Develop a method for connecting volunteer applications with current program needs to ensure they are connected to the best volunteer opportunity.
