Collect and account for fees at various locations interacting with visitors and sharing information. Serve as front-line representative to answer questions and offer guidance to guests. Likely Entry on Duty: Mar-Jul/2019

Responsibilities

  • Collect and account for fees.

  • Interact with park guests at an entrance station, visitor center, campground or other visitor contact station.

  • Visitor management such as traffic control, lost item assistance and special event set-up/take-down.

  • Stressful situations may occur on a daily basis.

Additional duties for GS-04:

  • Provide answers to recurring visitor questions, and describe the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession-operated facilities and services, and campground registration processes, explaining regulations.

  • Distribute park brochures and printed material

  • Inform visitors of potential safety hazards.

  • Receive and appropriately handle or refer complaints.

  • Follow established accountability guidelines for handling government funds.

  • Operate electronic computerized cash register, perform opening and closing shift functions,

  • Issues entrance receipts, park passes, and federal recreation passports in accordance with established guidelines, and

  • Verify entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates.

Additional duties for GS-05: includes the duties listed above as well as completing deposit reports to verify money collections, accountable stock sold, and all machine transactions from the shifts, using journal and receipt tapes and computer software.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate that you possess either the specialized experience or the education as described below. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may also be used to qualify.

Quality Ranking Factor: Handling Money - able to handle, collect, and account for money.

In order to qualify for this position at the GS-03 level, you must possess one of the following:

A. Six months of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a Visitor Use Assistant. General experience includes greeting the public, disseminating information, providing directions and fee collection.

  • OR- B. One year of education above high school (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours). This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

  • OR- C. Equivalent combination of experience and education.

In order to qualify for this position at the GS-04 level, you must possess one of the following:

A. One year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a Visitor Use Assistant. General experience includes greeting the public, disseminating information, providing directions and fee collection.

  • OR- B. Two years of education above high school (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours). This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

  • OR- C. Equivalent combination of experience and education.

In order to qualify for this position at the GS-05 level, you must possess one of the following:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service. Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Visitor Use Assistant. Specialized experience includes providing information or assistance to the public in a business or recreation setting; instructing groups of people or individuals; and compiling and analyzing information to report. Experience also included handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain fee and stock data; resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues; and using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions.

  • OR- B. Four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • OR- C. Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. In order to receive credit for experience, your resume must clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the number of hours worked per week.

Credit for experience is given on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Incumbents are required to travel to central, west, and east site locations within the County. Under general direction, the Assistant Clinical Laboratory Manager plans, organizes, directs and manages laboratory services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers; ensures compliance with Federal, State and accreditation commission laboratory rules and regulations; and performs related work as required. The Assistant Clinical Laboratory Manager supervises and oversees the activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel and the quality control program established for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and regional health centers; ensures adherence to Federal, State and accreditation standards; confirms that the appropriate quality assurance and quality control records are maintained and that established procedures are followed; provides competency testing of employees as required by Federal and State laws; oversees a preventative maintenance program which provides for the periodic inspection and testing of equipment and instruments; proposes changes in laboratory procedures to provide for a more efficient operation; assists laboratory scientists with laboratory tests that are out of control; participates in the interviewing, hiring, evaluation, and discipline of laboratory personnel; schedules and assigns work and sets work priorities as needed; assists in developing and facilitating orientation programs and training for new employees and acts for the Clinical Laboratory Manager during the latter's absence.
