Creative Discovery Museum offers unique adventures and hands-on learning to over 209,000 visitors a year. As a Visitor Service Associate, you will help ensure the best possible experience for each guest through world-class customer service.

Your day will consist of a rotation between the Museum Shop, Admissions Desk, and the Museum Cafe with various tasks including everyday operations, sales, cash control and cleaning. You must be energetic, team oriented, and able to effectively work with a variety of personalities and age ranges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a gold standard level of customer service at all times; greet all customers, answer questions with courtesy, offer pertinent information, complete customer transactions properly

  • Prepare work area each day, complete checklists, reconcile cash, check, and charge account totals and complete reports and bank deposits

  • Present, sell, and upgrade products in line with the goals for the department

  • Prepare, bill and release in-house requests to the appropriate department representative

  • Process requests for school group lunches, gift packs/bags, Caf platters, etc. Ensure orders and forms are properly completed and orders are filled and ready for pick-up/delivery on time

  • Accurately ring up all sales while adhering to proper money handling procedures; keep adequate change in drawers and aid in the general maintenance of the point of sale computer

  • Work with the rotation for the cleaning of each area in the department

  • Count, tag, restock and monitor inventory, create displays, place back stock in storage areas and keep area clean and safe; report any damages, shortages, and errors

  • Oversee security of guest entrance and exit, report door alarms immediately, check in lost adults/children following the proper protocol; be alert to shop lifters and know what to do

  • Be familiar with and adhere to Health Department regulations

Qualifications

  • High School diploma

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Experience with retail and/or food service preferred

  • Ability to work with grace under pressure

  • Ability to multi-task

Part-time, hourly; consistent schedule including weekends and some night and holiday work

Providing daily supervision of FJC Navigators and coordinating/facilitating the monthly Circle of Support meetings.
