Summary: The Department of Biology at UNC-Chapel Hill will hire a Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor to teach one section of BIOL 252 Fundamentals of Human Anatomy & Physiology, a sophomore/junior level core course for approximately 250 Pre-health and Biology majors.

This course meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:15am-12:05pm. Excellent candidates will have experience with using modern teaching methods including the use of technology for online and in-class formative assessments. The instructor will be expected to use a textbook and learning platform used by others in the department.

Relevant teaching experience and subject matter expertise are required. TA support is provided for grading exams. Please contact Dr.

Responsibilities:
Prepare a syllabus, outlining topics and reading assignments for each class period Prepare and present student-centered lectures for each class Prepare 4 exams and provide guidance to TAs about grading Post class materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, synopsis of main points, assignments) on course management system before each class or recitation Hold at least four office hours each week Hold a 1 hour review or Q&A session before each exam Respond promptly to email messages from students Expertise in human or mammalian physiology, least one year of college teaching experience; experience with student-centered teaching in large courses is highly preferred.Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

The anticipated start date for the position is August 2019. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester, with the possibility of a one-course reduction during either the Fall or Spring semester. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate (MBA) classes in Management as follows: Organization and Management, Business Communications, Organizational Leadership, International Management, Human Resource Management, Small Business Management, Operations Management, and Business Strategy. Business Strategy is expected to be a prominent course assignment for the successful candidate. Course assignments may be during the daytime or evening, and may include off-campus locations and online delivery.
