Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher (PD) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Visiting Researcher position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator. The Visiting Researcher will work in the field of Cancer Epigenetics within the Cancer Metabolism and Immunology program. The primary objective of the project is to study the function of key epigenetic regulators that are highly mutated in human cancer, including KDM5C in kidney cancer, ARID2 in melanoma, and/or KDM6A in bladder cancer. These studies will be conducted through the utilization of vertebrate animal models and cultured cell lines. The employee will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing results of molecular cloning, gene expression analyses, cell culture work, tumor xenograft and allograft in mice, and genetically engineered mouse models. The research activities will be conducted primarily in a wet lab setting and will involve various molecular methodologies such as qRT-PCR, FACS, IHC, IF, Western Blotting, Cell Culture, and animal handling.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Works under the direction of the principal investigator.
Perform functional and mechanistic studies and experiments, in the areas of cancer epigenetics, specifically to study the function of several top mutated epigenetic genes in human cancer and their mechanisms.
Collaborate with other team members; maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
Publish scientific research papers/articles and written reports and oral presentations of research experiments. Incumbent expected to contribute to scholarly activity to present research in high-impact publications, patent applications, and conference presentations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Status Per Diem Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Minimum Education and Experience
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mouse handling and tissue processing.
The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is also essential.
