The Department of Communication and Media Arts at Marymount Manhattan College seeks applications for a Visiting Instructor/Visiting Assistant Professor of Media Production for the 2024-2025 school year, pending final budget approval. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal and carries a 4/4 teaching load.

Salary: $65,000-$68,000

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should have an MFA or relevant terminal degree in film or media production or a related field by the time of appointment, a record of teaching excellence, extensive production experience, a commitment to service, a dedication to diversity and inclusion, and an active creative work agenda.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be able to teach a wide range of media production courses and will be attentive to emerging trends in the field. Courses taught by the successful applicant will depend on their areas of expertise and may include video production courses (COMM 233 Video Field Production, COMM 222 TV Studio Production, COMM 359 Directing Video), new media production courses (COMM 225 New Media Techniques, COMM 325 Interactive Media), sound design courses (COMM 216 Digital Sound Workshop, COMM 346 Podcasting, COMM 349 Projects in Digital Sound), and/or other generalized production courses (COMM 112 Storytelling Across Media: Intro to Sound and Video, COMM 403 Capstone Projects 1, COMM 405 Capstone Projects 2). The faculty member will contribute to curriculum development, will advise and mentor students, and will be an active member of the department and division.

About MMC's Communication & Media Arts Department

The Communication and Media Arts Department hosts five different majors in media production, media studies, public relations, digital journalism, and communication studies. Our Film & Media Production BFA major is our largest program with approximately 120 students enrolled.

The Department currently has nine full-time faculty and seventeen part-time faculty. We have several active student groups that utilize our up-to-date facilities, including a multicamera TV studio.
