Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Women's and Gender Studies (WGST) is an academic unit in the College of Arts & Sciences. Our mission is primarily to serve the undergraduate populations by offering a major and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. We also offer a graduate minor to PhD students working on issues of women and gender in other departments. (https://womensstudies.unc.edu/). The department of Women's and Gender Studies is also home to the Program in Sexuality Studies.
Position Summary
The Department of Womens and Gender Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire a visiting instructor for the Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025 semesters. Successful candidates will have a PhD in Womens and Gender Studies or other relevant field.
Candidates with a M.A. in Womens and Gender Studies or other relevant field will be considered. Applicants should familiarize themselves with current course offerings and indicate which courses they would be interested/qualified to teach. Candidates will be expected to teach 1-2 courses per semester, to complete all instruction and grading for the courses and to hold weekly office hours.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MA in Women's Studies or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
PhD preferred; demonstrate a promise of excellence and innovation in teaching and research, as well as experience working with diverse students; prior experience teaching in a higher education setting.
