Summary: The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Physics Department is searching to hire a Visiting Faculty in Physics, to begin August 2024 and continuing through April 2025.

As a candidate for this position you must: have a Masters or Ph.D. in physics or astronomy; be enthusiastically committed to teaching undergraduate physics to a diverse population of students; possess strong communication and interpersonal skills; and preferably have some experience teaching physics courses. If hired, you will be the instructor of record for 12 contact hours per week of introductory physics courses comprised of lectures, discussion sections, and labs. Teaching during spring or summer terms is not required, but such a teaching assignment may be possible, for additional compensation. The appointment may be renewed annually for an additional year depending on departmental needs.

  • A track record of teaching introductory physics.

  • Teaching 24 contact hours of introductory physics lecture, discussions, and labs per academic year.

Salary: The salary is $55,000.

Department/Division: The Physics Department consists of 19 permanent and 2 visiting faculty members who are dedicated to excellent teaching for students from all disciplines and backgrounds.
