The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Wagner College invites applications for a three-year visiting assistant professor in Sociology to begin fall 2024. We seek a candidate with a research and teaching focus on social inequality and social work.

Candidates with broad sociological training, applied and/or community engagement experience, and an interdisciplinary research agenda that will include undergraduate students is strongly preferred. Ability to intersect with a growing focus on social and/or environmental justice would be a plus. Applicants must have teaching experience and be near to completion of their PhD at the time of the appointment.

The teaching load is 3/3 with the option for summer courses. Courses to be covered include Marriage and Family (SO301), Sociology of Gender (SO320) and Sociological Theory (SO343), in addition to social work classes. The successful candidate will be teaching in Wagner College's signature, interdisciplinary, First Year Program.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000. Wagner College considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
