The psychology department at Dominican University seeks applicants for the position of full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of psychology for the 2024-2025 academic year. We are seeking someone enthusiastic about gaining or expanding their skills teaching in the heart of the psychology curriculum, and who has a commitment to serving a diverse student body. This is a great opportunity for a candidate interested in mentorship and development as a teacher of record in a primarily undergraduate context.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The course load is 24 credits across two semesters. For the fall, this would be two sections of the first semester of an integrated Research Methods and Statistics course, each with a lab, and one additional course.

For the spring, courses can be negotiated based on subject area expertise. The Research Methods and Statistics course is well developed, and the visiting assistant professor would receive a complete set of course materials and mentorship from a full-time faculty member who is also teaching in this sequence. In addition, the Visiting Assistant Professor would serve as an advisor for psychology majors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have a PhD, or good standing in a PhD program in psychology or an allied field of behavioral science.

Provide evidence of teaching experience at the college level with diverse undergraduate students.

Availability to teach in-person.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Provide evidence of teaching excellence in culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy designed to reach a diverse student body.

Experience teaching research methods and/or statistics in psychology or an allied field of behavioral science.
