Job Description:

The School of Education at the University at Albany, State University of New York, is seeking applicants for a PRODiG+ Visiting Assistant Professor/Postdoctoral Fellowship within the Counseling Psychology division. The VAP/Postdoctoral fellow will work with one or more faculty members on their ongoing research. Current research includes areas such as behavioral health promotion, health disparities, cultural diversity, and psychotherapy. This position will include expectations for writing and publishing research results in high-impact journals and grant development. The Fellowship is for two years.

The Visiting Assistant Professor/ Postdoctoral Associate will conduct/develop their own research with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion in Counseling Psychology.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Counseling Psychology

  • Supervising doctoral-level practica at the University's training clinic

  • Mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in research

  • Service to the division and department.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants are expected to possess a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology (preferred) or a closely-related specialty. Preference will be given to those applicants who are Licensed, or License Eligible as a psychologist in the State of New York.

  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;

  • Have a PhD or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date; and

  • Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

  • Demonstrate an academic/scholarly track record incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion or have experience furthering DEI-related initiatives and programs and a commitment to continuing those efforts in the campus community.

  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community

Fellows are welcome to focus on a wide range of scholarly topics and disciplinary areas with an emphasis on promoting and impacting diversity, equity, and inclusion through scholarship, teaching, and service to the campus community.

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

  • Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.

  • From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first- generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans
