The Ohio University School of Music invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Trumpet position beginning August 16, 2024. This position is a one year assignment with potential for renewal.

The successful candidate will Teach trumpet majors at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Actively participate in recruiting and retaining a successful trumpet studio.

Perform as a member of the OhioBrass, faculty quintet in residence. Conduct trumpet ensemble/chamber music, supervise brass methods, university service, maintain significant creative activity as an artist/scholar, and perform other university duties as assigned.

We are seeking a colleague with a commitment to working collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree, equivalent experience will be considered.

Evidence of outstanding musical artistry and effective teaching at the university level.

Evidence of the ability to recruit, administer, and maintain an active studio is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in brass pedagogy and jazz preferred.
