The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy in the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position (F0338) at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in August 2024, for two years.
The department seeks a colleague to join our 4-4 teaching rotation. Courses needed and desired will include survey sections (both halves) of U.S. History, and upper-level offerings, according to the candidate's specialties in modern U.S. History. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach the survey in African-American History, and/or post-1945 topics. We are also open to courses in Museum Studies and Historical Preservation. Additional teaching opportunities may include courses in Longwood's Civitae Core Curriculum .
Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. in U.S. History. ABD candidates will be considered but must have the Ph.D. conferred by August 2024.
Candidates with demonstrated college teaching ability preferred.
A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is preferred.
Additional Information:
This position is a full-time, two-year, non-tenure-track instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
