Brief Job Overview/Summary
The School of Education is seeking to fill a Visiting Professor of Human Development (XIIIO) position that includes the potential for tenure-eligibility, with educators from a variety of human development-related fields to teach courses in the Education and Human Development Program. The position will start in September of 2024.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Contribute to the oversight and monitoring of the Education & Human Development degree
Serve as an advisor to students
Maintain an active scholarly agenda
Provide service to the University, community, and/or profession
Perform other duties as designated by the Dean and/or the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
Support Stockton University's diversity commitment and strong student-centered vision and mission
Participate in recruitment activities
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate within the discipline of human development or a related area from an accredited university or ABD with degree completion by 2026. Candidates who are ABD at the start of the position can be considered, but will be appointed to the rank of Instructor until the degree is conferred
A minimum of three years experience working within the human development discipline or associated fields, e.g., gerontology, disability studies, family studies, &/or childhood studies
Capacity to teach courses in research methods and either childhood studies or disability studies
Experience teaching or teaching-like work within the discipline of human development and across the lifespan
Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and an articulated research agenda in the field of human development, e.g. gerontology, disability studies, family studies, &/or childhood studies
Capacity to offer guidance and advice regarding career interests relevant to the field of human services and associated fields
Experience working with diverse populations, age groups, and abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the higher education level
Experience teaching/working in different instructional modalities (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid, and online)
Experience in helping students connect academic and experiential learning through service learning, fieldwork, and/or internships
