Position Details

The Department of Health Science and Human Performance in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor in the Health Science and Human Performance department, beginning in August 2024.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Our Human Performance Program is seeking a dedicated colleague with a Masters/ Terminal degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, or a related field. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our undergraduate Human Performance major in the Exercise and Recreation Leadership concentration.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching areas in Human Performance Courses such as Introductory courses, Special Populations, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Sport Coaching, and Recreational Management.

  • Engage in academic support to students both in the classroom and in practical settings.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about fostering a community of inquiry and inclusivity, and who is committed to student success at the undergraduate level.

Teaching: The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching, a critical component for our teaching-centered, primarily undergraduate institution.

Applicants should be eager to create engaging, inclusive learning environments for our diverse student body that emphasize shared learning objectives across a range of subject areas within the exercise sciences. The required teaching load is 27 contact hours throughout the academic year in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Qualifications: A Masters/ Terminal degree is required, although candidates with a terminal degree are preferred.

Prior teaching experience at the is preferred. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Review of applications will begin May 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.
