Visiting Assistant Professor, Chemistry

Job Summary:

The Muhlenberg College Chemistry Department invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position for the 2024-2025 academic year, beginning in August 2024, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year. Candidates with interest in any subdiscipline of chemistry, including chemical education, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities will be in General Chemistry and may include lecture, laboratories, and recitations, with a teaching load equivalent to three courses per semester. A PhD in chemistry or ABD at time of hire is required. Master's degree in chemistry combined with substantial related professional experience will also be considered.

Successful completion of satisfactory background checks are required. Prior teaching experience is preferred.

The Chemistry Department is well-equipped with a new 400-MHz NMR spectrometer, several FTIR and GC-MS systems, microwave reactors, and a wide range of spectroscopic, chromatographic, and other instrumentation. We are a collegial department that values engaged teaching and inclusive learning experiences for all of our students.

The candidate must be committed to undergraduate teaching and will have the opportunity, if desired, to engage in research with undergraduates.
