Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor Chemistry

Range: $65,000- $72,000 based on experience

Position Summary: Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science starting in the Fall 2024 academic term.

General Purpose: Teach undergraduate courses (labs and lectures) in organic chemistry I and II (two lectures of CM241 and two labs (CM244) per semester.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Teach two Organic chemistry lectures (I and II) per semester (CM241-01 and CM241-02), Spring and Fall Semester.

  • Teach two Organic chemistry labs (CM244) per semester.

  • Teach one - two sections of Chemistry Lab I, fall semester; teach one two sections Chemistry Lab II, spring semester .

  • Develop lecture materials, homework assignments and exams, grade student work, and assign final grades, along with supervision of the laboratory component and laboratory TAs

  • Work with the Instrumental manager, Chemistry Stockroom Manager and the Director of First Year Chemistry to coordinate chemical preparation and laboratory equipment use

Essential Skills: Candidates must be familiar with chemical instruction required in the engineering and chemical sciences, including both lecture and laboratory instruction. Must have excellent communication skills and teaching experience.

Education/ Experience

Minimal Qualifications: PhD in Chemistry or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent; familiarity with Chemistry laboratories; experience with organic chemistry lectures and labs is particularly desirable. Previous experience in teaching university level general chemistry and organic chemistry is desirable.
