Job Description:
Salve Regina University's Department of Biology and Biomedical Sciences is currently seeking applications for the role of Visiting Assistant Professor in Biology. This appointment, set to commence on September 1, 2024, offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated educator to contribute to our academic community. The successful candidate will primarily engage in teaching activities within the Introductory Biology sequence for majors, employing a collaborative and team-oriented teaching methodology, with a strong emphasis on fostering student engagement and support. Additionally, the Assistant Professor may have the opportunity to design introductory courses for non-majors, as well as specialized elective courses that align with their areas of expertise.
The academic responsibilities encompass a teaching load of 24 contact hours per year, potentially including both lecture and laboratory sessions. Beyond instructional duties, the appointee will participate in various departmental activities such as meetings, curriculum development, and initiatives aimed at enhancing student recruitment and retention. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Head as needed.
Requirements:
Candidates must possess at least a Master of Science degree in Biology or a closely related field by the date of hire.
While a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree, along with prior teaching experience, are preferred, they are not prerequisites for this position.
