GDIT supports the United States Coast Guard (USCG) TISCOM

  • TESS program which provides critical services and support to meet the demands of the USCG mission. TISCOM TESS responsibilities include providing reliable enterprise IT services and responsive technical support for Coast Guard men and women around the globe as it develops, deploys, and supports the information technology (IT) infrastructure for the USCG networks for land, aviation, and sea based assets. Requirements include O&M of existing systems to of new capabilities. GDIT's TISCOM TESS program is an environment that mixes physical and virtual technologies, utilizing a collaboration of many different vendors. TISCOM TESS sets precedence for IT policies and procedures for the entire enterprise, supporting over 65,000 users in a Windows Active Directory architecture. The Virtualization Principal Engineer will work with other members of the Virtualization Teams; Operation Systems (OS) Administrators; and Developers to assist in the virtualization of applications and provide technical leadership. You will be expected to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate a high level of analytic skill to solve complex technical problems for the client.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Architectural Design Sessions with customers to help them develop an approach and strategy around their virtualization and Cloud Computing needs.

  • Provide guidance and recommendation on current VDI infrastructure and growth potential.

  • Provide Technical and Delivery leadership on virtualization projects involving Virtualization or Private Cloud technologies (AWS or Azure).

  • Monitor daily software builds and resolve problems as needed.

  • Create, change, and delete user accounts & groups per request.

  • Grant and remove access to server and related resources.

  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis while working with developers to identify problems and resolutions with in-house and over the counter software applications.

  • Configure and administrate VMware and Windows Server 2008/2012 R2 operating systems

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.

  • Configure/add new services as necessary.

  • Upgrade and configure system software per project and/or operational needs.

  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

  • Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

  • Prepare basic reports and presentations as requested or necessary within the IT team.

  • Recommend program/project release schedules based on knowledge of software development life cycle; deliver functionality and ensures the integrity of the overall system.

  • Perform document reviews to ensure effective and appropriate environment changes and demonstrate ability to escalate needs when necessary.

  • Deploy and Maintain a multi-server, environments including: VMware cluster(s), Windows Server 2008 /2012 R2 and UNIX/LINUX platforms

  • Participate in identifying business requirements. Ensure delivered solutions meet performance expectations.

  • Recommend program/project release schedules based on knowledge of software development life cycle. Deliver functionality and ensure the integrity of the overall system.

You must also have:

  • Secret Clearance

  • Security + Certification

  • BS or equivalent + 14 yrs related experience, or MS + 12 yrs related
