This positions primary responsibility and expertise is in the area of desktop operating system support in a virtualized Microsoft Windows environment. This position will develop and recommend OS configuration standards, coordinate OS updates and patches, and maintain the Departments desktop images. This position is responsible for administrating, updating and configuring the Departments profile management solution. This position is also the backup administrator and technician for the Department of Children and Families desktop application distribution platform and will package applications and assist in developing and recommending application packaging standards, coordinating application package updates and patches, and maintaining the Departments application distribution environment.
The incumbent is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and review of all desktop OS images to ensure quality and version compliance. In addition, the incumbent serves as a liaison between the Workstation Support and Server team for all issues pertaining to the standard virtual desktop environment. The incumbent also assists management in planning, preparing reports of a technical nature, serving on agency committees, and maintaining proficiency in computer software, virtualization technologies, and general information technology trends.
