The Broadcast Engineer position is responsible for supporting the maintenance and operations of the production control room technology. We are looking for someone that will take a hands-on approach in working closely with the Chief Broadcast Engineer and collaborating directly with the production and editorial staff. You will be one of the first lines of support for any technical issues during events while working effectively to ensure a smooth production.

Responsibilities
Assist with identifying and executing new projects, as well as, covering preventive maintenance, system/workflow installations, upgrades and providing consultation on projects
Assist with initiatives between broadcast engineering and operations, arena A/V, IT, and official replay
Secondary point of contact for all associated production systems: video/audio routing, signal processing, LED displays, cameras, switchers, audio mixers, replay system, intercom, lighting, edit systems, etc
Improving functionality and organization of the technical spaces including Control Room
Preventative maintenance, improving technology uptime to maximize productivity
Assist with wiring documentation and system configuration documentation
Assist with service contracts and third-party integrations, updating software and maintenance
Ensure all equipment is game ready and events are covered through scheduling
Familiar with OES and Daktronics scoring equipment. Able to communicate with game officials and broadcast representatives
Maintain knowledge and know the latest technological advances including media and entertainment technologies, studio production and workstation products
Willingness to work and educate in a learning environment as the University transitions to a more student focused workforce
Minimum Qualifications
Preferred bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the field
Minimum three years experience in live television or board show production
Documentation skills including creating and maintaining library of technical drawings and the ability to create and follow standard operation procedures
Knowledge/ability to apply terminations/connectors to various types of production cabling such as coaxial, twisted pair, and optical fiber cables that carry SDI video, AES and analog audio, RF, Fiber, IP signals
Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical end users
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate the status of problems, provide updates to progress on projects, and offer solutions to technical issues
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and work on elevated surfaces, pull and install wiring, use hand and power tools, work on small components, and perform other physical tasks
Due to the nature of our business, work hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferences
Familiarity with the following broadcast standards:
Dante Audio, AES67, MXF, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, RS-422, RS-232, All Fiber Mediums, SMPTE and Triax
Professional network and broadcast certifications
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCAD, Visio or other CAD software
Professional operating experience with broadcast cameras, video switchers, audio consoles, replay and graphics machines
