Job Description:

On-call Videographer needed for all HD digital production facility.

The On-call Videographer will be responsible for shooting, delivering, and archiving high-quality HD content for Howard Community College's Television Station (HCC-TV) both for the college's internal communications and broadcast. This could include productions on and off the college campus. He/she must have a creative eye and expert knowledge in composition, exposure, and depth of field, as well as in the operation and set up of all equipment, including microphones, lights, and cameras needed for recording sit-down style interviews, ENG-style interviews, and b-roll. The On-Call Videographer must also be able to shoot for continuity-style editing and obtain b-roll appropriate to a subject. He/she will need to manage multiple tasks under pressure, have the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, and must be capable of working well independently, as well as in a collaborative setting.

This job requires a flexible work schedule including non-traditional hours and weekends as needed. The On-call Videographer must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent professional television production work experience.

  • Minimum 3 years of recent and relevant experience shooting for broadcast in a recognized facility.

  • Working link to samples of work and/ or demo reel is required.

  • Advanced field and studio camera operation experience; familiarity with Panasonic HVX200 and HPX255 are preferred.

  • Intermediate knowledge of lighting techniques and grip equipment.

  • Ability to record high-quality in-camera audio using a variety of microphones.

  • Experience with digital asset management software applications preferred.

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Hours Per Week: On - Call

Work Schedule: On-Call

Compensation: $18.00 per hour. This position is overtime eligible for hours worked over 40 in a week.

The HCC Startalk program provides 60 high school students the chance to study the critical languages Arabic or Chinese from June 29, 2020 through July 31, 2020. As a STARTALK instructor, you would begin training and set-up on June 22 and wrap-up on July 31, 2020. The STARTALK curriculum is based on the STARTALK Principles for effective teaching and learning with students' progress regularly assessed using the NCSSFL-ACTFL World-readiness standards and Can-do proficiency statements. Furthermore, teachers and students not only collaborate interactively in the STARTALK classroom but at local community events on campus and in Washington, D.C. for a field trip. Requirements: * Master's degree in Modern Arabic (MSA) or degree related to the field and native or near-native proficiency in Modern Arabic (MSA) * Expertise in current world language pedagogy in a proficiency focused system as well as writing of daily lesson plans * Knowledge of STARTALK Principles for effective teaching and learning and comfortable writing daily learning plans * Eager to create an environment in which teachers and learners collaborate as partners in the learning process * Available to train and teach on HCC main campus from June 22, 2020 - July 31, 2020 Additional Information: Hours Per Week: 24 hours in the classroom Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday; 8am-1:30pm and training / team meetings at least twice a week Compensation: Startalk Instructors are compensated for 4-credits at the adjunct pay rate with additional compensation of $920.00 for all Startalk-related team training and individual preparation of STARTALK lesson plans based on the HCC STARTALK curriculum to ensure implementation of these principles in the classroom.
