The Video Standards team at InterDigital is a team of highly motivated, fast paced, and highly skilled researchers with strong backgrounds in video compression, video processing, and virtual reality. We actively participate in state-of-the-art video standards development activities in international standardization organizations such as ISO/IEC/MPEG, ITU-T/VCEG, and the JVET. Our areas of expertise encompass future video coding standards, virtual reality coding and streaming, video-on-demand streaming, video broadcasting and multicasting, real-time interactive video applications, and optimized video delivery over 4G and 5G networks. We are seeking Video Coding Standards Engineers with the following responsibilities and qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Actively participate and contribute to JVET and MPEG standardizations, including Versatile Video Coding, MPEG-DASH, file format, immersive media metrics and metadata, point cloud compression and data carriage, etc.
Research on system technologies and solutions for video centric processing, storage and delivery applications.
Document and present the novel video streaming technologies and implementations in various forms, such as standards contributions, conference and journal publications, technical white papers, patent applications, etc.
Propose high level syntax design for media compression standards such as VVC, point cloud compression and 3DoF+ visual compression, and develop system solutions to support emerging applications such as VR, AR and XR, with a focus on driving optimized video experience over 5G networks.
PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or Masters' in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. Position will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant work experience.
Solid research background in video processing, storage and delivery. Proven track record of publications in first-tier conferences and/or journals a plus.
Past experience and contributions with video standards such as AVC, HEVC, VVC, ISOBMFF file format, MPEG-DASH, OMAF and PCC strongly preferred.
Proficient in C++ and C programming..
Past experience being a standards delegate to JCT-VC, JVET, MPEG or 3GPP a plus.
Strong analytical and research skills along with a proven innovation track record.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong team player.
Available and willing to travel.
