Job Summary:

PBS Wisconsin is looking for a creative Video Promo Producer & Editor. Join our small, talented, versatile team that creates short form :15, :30 and :60 second spots for our on-air stations, digital, and social media platforms, like Instagram and Facebook.

Our team creates videos about PBS Wisconsin's mission, vision, upcoming programming, and corporate sponsorship support. Work includes short, unique videos about PBS Wisconsin original series, community events, tune-ins, and co-brand the station with national PBS programming, corporate support and underwriting spots, including testimonials with sponsor personnel.

This position produces and supports content for all PBS Wisconsin delivery platforms.

Tasks include taking an idea from concept to finished piece, research, planning and scheduling of production locations, shooting video/recording audio, brainstorming, drafting scripts, editing, creating 2D and 3D graphics and animations, and file distribution. Several projects may be in various stages of completion at once.

A certain number of hours each week will also be spent on imminent deadlines tagging spots and menu lineups for local air.

A successful Video Promo Producer & Editor has excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well with diverse groups of people utilizing an open mind to all ideas. The need for customer service skills and attention to detail are a must.

Producer must be able to coordinate/schedule workflow efficiently, have strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects/departmental demands simultaneously, and the ability to perform under tight deadlines; either solo or with a team.

Responsibilities:

Develops and produces content and production materials in one or more areas for programming. Assists in developing, coordinating, and directing the production strategy and process.

  • 5% Researches and develops production strategy for one or more programs across broadcast and digital platforms
  • 40% Produces, develops, and edits content that may include identifying topics, themes, guests, conducting pre-interviews and/or interviews, writing, and/or integrating content for multimedia platforms
  • 10% Performs daily operational activities for live and pre-recorded content, and may direct the editorial and creative process of production activities
  • 20% Collaborates with other content creators in pre- to post-production processes, prepares materials, and handles logistics for broadcast and/or digital publications
  • 20% Maintains familiarity with studio equipment and/or applicable technology for production
  • 5% May schedule and direct operational activities for content production, including live/recorded studio or field productions

Education:

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in the Communication Arts (Film, TV or Video Production, Digital Media, or related field).

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 or more years of professional experience including producing, script writing or storytelling.

  • 2 or more years of hands-on professional experience editing video and multi-track audio. Demonstrated effective and creative use of voice-over, soundbites and music.

  • 2 or more years using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop or similar professional-grade non-linear editing software.

  • Experience creating graphic assets for video projects, including text treatment.

  • Experience working independently, in teams, and with direction from outside clients.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task and change focus quickly while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment successfully meeting required deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful and progressive experience in broadcast-level and digital video production.

  • Experience producing, writing and editing :15, :30, :60 second promotional content, commercials and corporate sponsorship work.

  • Experience producing video and audio content for a variety of broadcast and digital distribution platforms including social media, OTT, apps, or other emerging media platforms.

  • Hands-on experience creating motion graphics or animation with Adobe After Effects or other similar professional-grade software.

  • Hands-on experience directing on-screen talent.

  • Experience with branding and social media marketing.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This is a full-time position that requires working on site full time in Vilas Hall on the UW-Madison campus in Madison, WI during an initial 3-month training period. After the training period, working a hybrid schedule with up to 3 days per week working remotely may be arranged. Occasional night and weekend work might be required.

Minimum $56,112 ANNUAL (12 months)

Depending on Qualifications

Anticipated salary range for this position is in the mid to high $50Ks with actual pay dependent on qualifications and experience.
