We are seeking an organized and talented Video Producer to join our InterestingThings.com, a general interest site, and BetterYouMag.com, a womens lifestyle site, team. These sites produce two main types of content: long-form slideshows and short-form gear coverage, using a generous content budget to make sure we create the best possible stories that fit within those formats.
The video producers primary role will be to convert long-form, list-style web stories into short-form videos that build out our video channels. The best candidates will be able to design templates for story franchises, convert story copy into scripts for narrators, source stock footage to illustrate these stories, then pull it all together into simple, viral, and searchable video content.
The best candidates will possess the right instincts for recognizing new story opportunities that get turned over during their research work, and will help track down permissions and negotiate our costs to use this material. The ideal candidate has excellent shooting, editing, and production skills, and experience developing video content for web and social media.
Collaborating with editorial teams to develop franchise concepts around assignments made for our web sites.
Independently producing engaging and informative short-form videos from concept to completion.
Delivering videos for different platforms and formats.
Providing brands with insight into video trends and styles.
The Video Producer is measured on the performance of videos created across a number of criteria, including:
Meeting/exceeding the brands deadlines and expectations/objectives.
Maintaining positive interactions with the team.
Maintaining high quality of content.
You must submit a demo reel highlighting your experiences as a visual storyteller who is able to tell compelling stories to be considered for this role and a shooting/edit test will be required.
Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop, skilled in After Effects.
Willingness to use simple web-based video creation tools and templates (i.e. Wibbitz, Wotchit, etc.)
Pre-production experience in scheduling and collaborating with editorial staff, crew members and talent.
Strong communication, organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Ideal candidate is organized, hardworking, creative, and resourceful. The ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and be meticulous with an eye for detail and consistency while being able to be adaptable is key.
