Are you a natural storyteller looking for your next piece of inspiration in film or video work? As a Video Editor at Redfin, you'll be responsible for shooting, assembling (and occasionally hacking) together raw video footage and/or motion graphics to create a unique and exciting story to craft short- and long-format video projects. This role must understand all of the components of video production, including sound, music, visuals and point of view. The video editor will routinely collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop creative solutions that effectively communicates the strategic intent of business initiatives. You'll collaborate with writers, marketing managers and other designers daily. Candidates must present an online reel for consideration.

The Role

  • Splice raw film footage together from various sources and shoots, and combine it with other scenes to create a cohesive story

  • Evaluate edited footage to make sure it matches the story from the script and meets the narrative agenda

  • Edit footage into timelines and cut time out of certain shots to create a more impactful story for the audience

  • Combine visual footage with audio sound effects, dialogue, ambient sound

  • Use computer editing software programs, video switching devices, digital video effects programs and other tools to piece together film components

  • Ensure all editing cuts, splices, changes and additions appear seamless and natural and help the story flow more effectively in the finished product

  • Ideate and collaborate with other designers and creatives, and occasionally lead process

  • Present creative rounds and reconcile or negotiate stakeholder feedback

  • Responsible for completing projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding environment

  • Contributes to developing and evolving motion guidelines

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in film, video production or communications

  • Experience working with video editing software

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to ideate, as well as take direction

  • Certification in Adobe Premiere a huge plus

  • Ability to use sound judgment in ambiguous situations

  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting, professional relationships at all levels
