The primary purpose of Victim Service Analyst (VSA) position is to assist the department in meeting its statutory obligation under the NC Crime Victim's Rights Act (CVRA) and departmental policy for the provision of notifications to victims of crime.

The VSA executes the necessary processes for victim registration as well as assists victims through telephone and written communication with understanding the registration and notification processes and answering victims' most frequently asked questions. Notification is one of several victim services offered by the department and is a key safety measure for victims of crime. The position will carry out these duties utilizing a fundamental understanding of department policies and procedures regarding custody, parole and supervision of offenders as well as knowledge of county jail offenders and their working knowledge of the notification computer systems and essential offender information in corrections and court databases.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of NC crime victims' rights and familiarity with key victim service providers in other agencies and/ or other victim centered programs (statutes, and victims' rights) across the state

  • Working knowledge of DAC structure, policies, procedures objectives and problems associated with offender management by the department's divisions

  • Experience with Offender Population Unified System (OPUS) and/ or other criminal justice systems

Management Preferences:

  • Experience working with victims of crime

Bachelor's degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The primary purpose of the Victim Services Section is to serve the victims of North Carolina in various capacities through the mandated programs. Victim Support Services assists victims, their families and interested parties whose offenders are sentenced in court to a prison term, placed on probation or released from prison on parole or post-release supervision through the Adult Corrections notification program (OPUS) according to NCGS Chapter 15A Articles 45 and 46. NC SAVAN (NC Statewide Automated Victims Assistance Notification) is a criminal justice information sharing system that supports automated victim notification for incarcerated offenders according to NCGS Chapter 15A Articles 45 and 46.
