The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Vice President/Controller role to be based in the Chicago, IL market. The selected candidate will be responsible for general accounting and finance functions including financial reporting and analysis, regulatory reporting, general ledger integrity and control, reconciliations, accounts payable, and preparation of other reports, schedules, and analysis as needed.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $120K and an excellent benefits package.

Vice President/Controller responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating month-end closing process, including assistance with income, liquidity, and capital projections.
  • Management of the accounts payable process.
  • Asset/liability and liquidity reporting and analysis.
  • Assisting in the completion of the annual budget.
  • Preparing or reviewing regulatory reports including quarterly Call Reports and weekly FR2900.
  • Preparing annual financial statements and coordination of the annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
  • Financial report preparation and analysis, including monthly Board of Director package.
  • Preparing and analyzing other supporting schedules used for board reporting, regulatory and income tax reporting, and internal and external audits.
  • Preparing supporting schedules and input or approval of general ledger entries
  • General ledger and bank account reconciliations, including reporting of and communicating ultimate resolution of aged reconciling items.
  • Continual review and implementation of process improvement across the department.
  • Ensuring a strong internal control environment and integrity of general ledger and communicating key controls to risk management for FDICIA.
  • Preparing Business Analytics reports for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Coordinating daily cash position reporting and executing operational movements as needed.
  • Assisting in ensuring ALCO assumptions are current and supported.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of bank experience in the accounting or finance department required.
  • Three or more years of public accounting experience highly desired.
  • Certified Public Accountant or MBA strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of, and FDICIA experience, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP).
  • Strong computer application skills with Fiserv experience a plus.
  • Plansmith experience a plus.
  • Microsoft proficiency, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will manage an existing or develop a new commercial real estate loan customer base and develops new business from referral sources, designated marketing efforts, and cold calling efforts.</p><p>The position offers a generous salary of up to $120K plus bonus and a full benefits package. <strong>(This is not a remote position).</strong></p><p>Commercial Lender responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>Structuring and successfully negotiating loan transactions with customers and prospects within accepted risk tolerance levels.</li><li>Managing loan renewals and collection efforts on all past due loans and loans in default in a timely manner and maintaining a high level of asset quality within a designated portfolio.</li><li>Meeting specific loan origination and deposit growth performance expectations including Commercial Loan Portfolio Growth (Gross), Increase Gross Depository Relationship, and a minimum number of sales calls per week.</li><li>Managing daily overdrafts, providing quality customer service, and answering customer inquiries or directing/referring them to appropriate personnel/third-party vendors.</li><li>Reporting Management issues, new developments, and market conditions as needed.</li><li>Receiving, previewing and conducting initial viability analysis on loan applications and related documents.</li><li>Ensuring that applications are complete as to core requirements and that all other initial items have been received or requested prior to submission to underwriting.</li><li>Reviewing and presenting loan presentations to supervisor, providing a review of loan documents, and providing a final review of all other related loan documentation and closing items.</li><li>Maintaining database software pipeline to record calling and sales efforts.</li><li>Following up with the customer or designated representative whenever the customer/representative provides an inadequate response, or insufficient information, or does not respond in a timely manner to personnel through the underwriting and closing process as well as ongoing portfolio management.</li><li>Preparing management reports as needed.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><h3>Who Are You?</h3><p>You’re someone who wants to influence your own development.
