Vice-President Thought Leadership/Content Development (Chicago Based-Hybrid Work Structure)

The Role:

The Vice-President of Thought Leadership/Content Development will play a mission-critical role for our client and their business -- at the tip of the spear in seeking out and developing content (primarily people-driven stories) that bring the client story and reputation campaign to life.

Required will be a level of professional maturity, creative and critical thinking with the ability to drive projects from inception to completion underpinned by outstanding writing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish a detailed understanding of the clients business, its core programs, messaging, and positioning
  • Establish a detailed understanding of issues related clients thought leadership positioning and proactively follow issues in the media etc. to identify opportunities to engage in media, online, at events etc.
  • Have a journalist mindset the ability to develop and work with client contacts to seek and pursue story leads for potential content (used by social, media, creative, thought leadership workstreams)
  • Outstanding professional writing skills, and the ability to produce copy for social, media, client bylines
  • Work as part of a content editorial team (social, media, creative, through leadership)
  • Have presence and professional maturity express a clear point of view and to build the clients confidence

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in integrated public relations, ideally with some agency tenure
  • Successful track-record of developing and executing content strategy across earned, owned and paid communication platforms
  • Act as day-to-day client-facing lead by contributing to strategy, building relationships, and overseeing campaign executions and deliverables
  • Contribute to business development efforts for new and organic growth
  • Some familiarity with the intersection of Public Affairs issues and Corporate Communications is a plus
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple complex programs at the same time
  • Able to cultivate relationships across the agency
  • Strong strategic thinking and counseling ability
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills
  • Desire to work in a diverse and inclusive organization as an active participant in culture initiatives, training opportunities and employee resource groups
