Business Overview:

RISK ORC Mandate:

The mission of Risk ORC is to oversee the effective and efficient functioning of the Operational Permanent Control (OPC) framework implemented by business lines and functions (1st line of defense or 1LOD), as well as, the measurement and management of Operational Risks (OR). They serve in an independent oversight capacity, as part of the 2nd line of defense (2LOD), ensuring that the 1LOD is fulfilling its Permanent Control (PC) objectives and requirements. Risk ORC's scope includes the CIB business line, and its supporting operational units and transversal functions across the Americas (US, Canada, Brazil & Latin America).

RISK ORC Third Party Risk Management Mandate:

Risk ORC Third Party Risk Management is part of Risk ORC CIB, acting as the 2nd Line of Defense for the Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) framework in the Americas. The primary role of the Risk ORC Third Party Risk. Officer is to provide relevant RISK and CIB/TPRM senior management a comprehensive, transparent, exhaustive and consistent view of Operational Risk across Third Party-related activities in the Americas.


BNPP is looking for a senior Third Party Risk Officer, at the Vice President level, to support Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) framework across CIB Americas. The Third Party Risk Officer will supervise the end-to-end Operational Risk Management framework and more specifically:

  • Establish key relationships with the various stakeholders within the TPRM framework across CIB Americas:

  • Operational teams (1st LoD): Third Party Coordinator, Operational Permanent Control (OPC) functions business owners, and

  • Subject Matter Experts (1st LoD): Procurement, Information Technology, Human Resources, Corporate and Social Responsibility, Finance, and

  • Subject Matter Experts (2nd LoD): RISK (Operational Risk and Control (ORC) and Information, Technology and Continuity (ICT)), Compliance, Legal, Tax.

  • Assessment, monitoring and effective challenge of the TPRM framework on risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigations and Key Risk Indicators (KRI) (incl. remediation or effectiveness of controls).

  • Assessment of the Control Framework Effectiveness by defining a framework aligned, risk based testing program on an annual basis and review results with control owners and agreeing on action plans.

  • Ensure alignment by working with global counterparts and Group RISK ORC to ensure initiatives are timely implemented at the local CIB level and standardized when applicable.

  • Maintain policies and procedures around TPRM framework at 2nd LoD and ensure adherence of the TPRM framework across CIB Americas:

  • to the Bank's methodologies, policies, and standards, and

  • to the Industry best practices (such as those set by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC)).

  • Participate to the monthly Vendor Acceptance Committee (VAC) and act as advisor and perform effective challenge.

  • Drive consistent internal and external reporting on TPRM-related matters to the Group and to regulatory requests.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Math

  • Able to actively partner and network across various business lines and functions across the organization in the execution of responsibilities

  • Self-motivated and results oriented

  • Able to work independently.

  • Strong communication, project management and presentation skills

  • Detailed oriented and very well organized

  • Gravitas and ability to challenge senior stakeholders in a constructive way

  • 5 years minimum experience in Audit, Compliance, Control or Third Party Risk Management role

  • Knowledge and proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of regulatory governance framework programs and standards such as Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), International Organization for Standardization (ISO 17799), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Sarbanes_Oxley (SOX,) and Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS 70) will be considered a plus

  • Master Degree or CFA
