  • Lead the development and implementation of the supply chain strategy to support corporate goals including: demand planning, materials and inventory management, distribution, logistics optimization, and Sales & Operation Planning (S&OP)

  • Develop and implement supply chain scorecard utilizing key performance indicators to improve supply chain efficiency, maintain product quality standards, and reduce costs. Identify strategic alliances to meet our logistical needs

  • Oversee the develop risk management programs to ensure business continuity of supply in emergency scenarios

  • Direct the completion, maintenance, and execution of thorough Market Analyses and Commodity Strategies

  • Develop and carry out strategies, policies, and procedures to facilitate the most economical and expeditious methods of purchasing materials and services on a company-wide scale

  • Forecast and anticipate the movement and behavior of key commodities

  • Identify, evaluate, and assess major suppliers for all products, particularly from the perspective of total cost, effectiveness, quality, and supplier base optimization.

  • Lead supplier visits and audits, including new supplier identification and vetting

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing Teams on New Product Innovation and Initiatives, particularly with respect to more efficient use of materials and/or lower cost materials

  • Partner with Quality Department to fulfill Supplier Quality Management regulatory requirement per (ISO, CFR, MDR, MDSAP) such as supplier audits, supplier scorecards, supplier surveys, and supplier qualifications.

  • Continually drive the supplier development and innovation process to ensure state-of-the-art technology is available. Accordingly, facilitate the earliest possible supplier involvement in the internal product development process. Ensure reductions in product variation and proliferation are realized.

  • Upgrade information relative to future costs of purchased materials, availability, long-range market trends, alternate sources, risk mitigation, technological developments, and other related factors that impact future profitability.

  • Effectively provide the vision, strategy and counsel to senior management regarding purchasing activities. Develop and implement policies and procedures to facilitate the most economical and expeditious methods of purchasing materials and services on a regional & global scale.

  • Support the development of a best-in-class quality supply base. Provide regular performance feedback to the supply base in an effort to promote transparency.

  • Lead and coordinate the negotiations of contractual documents (non-disclosure agreements, supply agreements, quality agreements and key purchasing conditions with key suppliers to the Freudenberg Medical group.

  • M.S. in Business, Supply Chain or logistics (B.S. acceptable with sufficient experience)

  • Minimum 10 years of purchasing and supply chain management experience; medical device manufacturing environment and automotive background a plus

  • Experience in managing an international supply base in a multi-national manufacturing organization

  • Prior SAP experience critical

  • Strong analytical, financial and P&L skills

  • Career progress should emphasize purchasing/materials experience, particularly as coordinated with the activities of engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance

  • Experience in multiple supply chain processes, methodologies such as ERP, JIT, S&OP, Lean and Six Sigma.

  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally, up to 50%

  • Excellent and documentable track record in global purchasing/supply chain management, preferably involving engineered medical device products.

  • Proven ability to create, develop and implement global purchasing & supply chain policies, procedures and systems.

  • Thorough understanding of global cultural dynamics, i.e., ability to "think globally and act locally."

  • Proficient planner and purchasing strategies - a definite must.

  • An entrepreneurial-oriented individual with the scope and vision to think strategically but operate pragmatically - with a strong results orientation.

  • Assertive and creative, with an inherent bias toward action.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-managed and motivated.

  • Ability to manage and motivate others.

  • Wide breadth of mental scope and creativity. Strong problem-solving instincts and capabilities.

  • Professional and personal attributes as described above are critical, with heavy emphasis placed upon creative, innovativeness and assertive leadership qualities.
