Our client, a rapidly growing mid-stage technology company, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist the Company in its search for a strong and dynamic legal executive to lead the legal function. This attorney will report directly to the CEO and will manage a small team of professionals.

Responsibilities include: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial and technology agreements including enterprise sales and SaaS, partnership, vendor, MSAs and communications agreements. This attorney will also counsel executives on privacy, data protection, and compliance issues. S/he will manage regulatory matters and refine processes to facilitate legal support of the company's operational teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work with other business functions to provide strategic, business-oriented legal guidance on a wide variety of matters.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 8-14+ years of experience practicing law in the technology industry - with at least 2 years as an in-house attorney. Strong law firm experience is a plus.

  • Experience working at a SaaS, cloud, enterprise software and/or communications/telecom company;

  • Experience advising executives on issues related to software, including contracts, privacy, data security, regulatory, IP, and marketing;

  • Impeccable legal and business judgment and an ability to quickly risk-assess and prioritize;

  • Excellent presence and proven ability to influence at all levels;

  • Business acumen;

  • Great written and oral communication skills

  • A collaborative approach with no ego in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;

This role will be responsible for recruiting, developing, and managing partners internationally. The VP of Business Development will be a major change agent at Cloudera, having impact and influence with a high degree of autonomy, energy, flexibility and accuracy across all lines of business. In this role, this person will maintain an excellent working relationship between the partners and the direct sales team, and will be responsible for building and maintaining the partner programs and partnerships globally. As such, this person will have successfully managed international partners, customers and teams in the past. The person will be a seasoned executive with tremendous drive, intelligence and capability. This person is a cross-functional player who thrives in a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and entrepreneurship. This position will report directly to the Senior VP Field Operations. Responsibilities will include: * Work with Cloudera's executive team to develop the worldwide business development strategy, goals and agenda. * Create a uniform and consistent approach to programmatically identify, target, and recruit key global, national and regional partners * Collaboratively and cross-functionally drive the identification, structuring, negotiating, closing and nurturing of all strategic relationships to achieve and exceed assigned revenue targets and partner recruitment goals. * Expand existing relationships and enable our existing partners by developing go-to-market strategies that are executed in the field. * Evangelize partnerships– including joint value proposition with sales teams to ensure awareness and collaboration and minimize sales conflicts. * Captain and mentor a world-class global business development team. * Facilitate, develop and manage partner enablement and training plans to ensure partners are equipped to position products/solutions and compete effectively to meet collective objectives. * Track pipeline and qualify, structure, negotiate and close deals (predominantly with Enterprise Sales) that focus on user acquisition and revenue. * Identify practices which accelerates Cloudera's client adoption and solution for implementation. * Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews, measuring partner performance against pre-established business metrics. * Collaborate with Partner Marketing to drive the creation and utilization of sales collateral as well as demand generation programs and campaigns that drive partner revenue. Demonstrate Cloudera's value proposition to the Partners' Executive, Sales, and Technical teams to drive continued partner success. Additional Requirements * 15 years' experience as a successful senior business development executive within the software/cloud infrastructure landscape. * Proven track record of orchestrating a global BD/channel function. * Extensive experience working with partners, channels, and integrators to build strategic programs that drive awareness, demand and sales. * Ability to inspire and persuasively communicate ideas, overcome obstacles, lead people, compel partners. * Solid understanding of the broad software landscape; Cloud, OpenSource and Data Science would be highly beneficial. * Strong customer and partner focus on establishing and developing long term, lasting relationships that drive revenue. Existing relationships with identified target partners a bonus. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and proven experience to make an immediate impact. * Comfortable with data driven strategy, modeling financial justification of deal and post deal metrics. * Strong experience and expertise leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams (including Executives, Services, Engineering, Legal organizations, etc.) * Detail oriented, very organized, self-starter, understanding of the psychology of sales & the sales process. Strong track record in defining and aligning channel partner/sales strategies and programs to maximize reseller retention and revenue performance. * History of achieving revenue growth in complex business environments through a focus on: developing and communicating the plan, addressing issues that hinder performance, and implementing best practices.
