Job Description

Please note: Candidates must be prepared to work onsite in the New York office 3 days/week.

As Vice President Social Strategy at Razorfish, you will be joining our 80+ person social practice within our fast-growing Consumer & Content Experience discipline.

In this role, you will be a social strategist for one of the largest Entertainment Brands in the world - specifically joining a team that manages organic social marketing for the brand and all its titles.

You will work on-site at our Client's office in NYC, embedded within a 30-person team comprised of a mix of client in-house team members and Razorfish team members across four departments: Editorial, Publishing, Audience Development and Innovation - all working together to deliver culturally relevant content at scale, engaging a diverse audience of millions of obsessed fans.

At a high level, this role will serve as a supporting senior strategist for the Brand working side-by-side directly with our Client - helping drive special projects from a strategic perspective, developing proactive thought leadership and first-to-market opportunities, managing Razorfish social team members, and working closely with the Razorfish Client Services Lead and Razorfish Operations Lead to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Support:

  • Serve as the strategic support for our Senior Client, as well as our Mid-Level Clients, helping to create and execute on various social initiatives.

  • Collaborate with our Senior Client and Mid-Level Clients to identify strategic gaps in plans and projects, working in a strategy support role to meet desired outcomes.

  • Work with our Senior Client and Mid-Level Clients, playing a supporting strategic role for special projects across the year - proactively identifying opportunities to create more efficiency, spotting areas of improvement and bringing innovative ideas to the table.

  • Partner with the Razorfish Operations Lead and Razorfish Client Service Lead to ensure strategic alignment between the Editorial, Publishing, Innovation, and Audience Development teams.

  • Platform Partnership & Proactive Thought Leadership:

  • Leverage existing relationships you have with social platforms to help facilitate quick-turn strategic needs for our Clients, ranging from priorities like channel consolidation to first-mover alpha/beta opportunities.

  • Constantly keep all of our Clients up to date and informed with social trends and key platform changes - surfacing strategic opportunities they can action on that will help to position the brand as an innovative industry leader.

  • Author frequent strategic POVs for our Clients that will keep them ahead of the competition.

  • Team Cohesion &Cross-Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Razorfish Operations Lead and Razorfish Client Services Lead to facilitate alignment and effective communication across our 30+ Razorfish team members.

  • Directly manage Razorfish social team members including 13 creators, 3 community managers, 1 audience development strategist and 1 innovation strategist - ensuring they are delivering high-quality/best in class work as expected from their roles, helping them with skill development, and promoting their professional growth in order to retain talent.

  • Coordinate with Paid Social Agency Team to ensure strategic alignment across organic and paid, proactively looking for opportunities and initiatives to collaborate on and surfacing them to our Senior Client and Mid-Level Clients.

What Makes a Successful Candidate:

  • You come highly skilled, know what makes things trend, and know your way around complex, always on social programs focused on creating and producing culturally relevant high-quality assets quickly and at scale.

  • You have worked for entertainment or media brands - which means you know how to engage with passionate audiences around specific genres and shows, grow large communities of fans, and partner with the right platforms. In other words, you can get the right people to "pick up the phone" in order to get things done quickly.

  • You are highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and thrive working on-site with Clients alongside them - knowing the "art" of how to align multiple stakeholders and teams around shared visions and strategic goals.

  • You are a "thinker" AND a "do-er" - able to quickly internalize strategic asks, build presentations with big ideas and detailed plans, author strategic point of views, and "connect the dots" across a complex and fast-moving organization with multiple priorities and projects.

  • You have proven experience managing a large team of social creators and makers, strategists, data analysts, and community managers from junior to manager level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field

  • 12+ years of experience working in social marketing at an agency or in-house for a large well-known brand

  • Proven experience in a senior social strategy role, ideally within the entertainment or media industry

  • Proven experience managing a large team of creators and makers at all levels, with an intimate understanding of content production at scale

  • Proven experience creating strategies, plans and thought leadership for Clients

  • Expert understanding of all major social platforms across organic and paid, including existing relationships with those platforms that you can bring with you on day 1

  • Expert skillset with tools including: Monday, Netbase/Quid, Sprout, Statista, Monday, ListenFirst

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while on-site with our Clients

Compensation Range: $120 - $140/hr. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. This role may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met.
