About BNY Mellon Advisors:

BNY Mellon Advisors is a unique business within BNY Mellon that focuses on asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager research, and alternatives within a OCIO context as well as asset management context. The business constructs and manages multi-asset, multi-manager investment strategies using both proprietary and third-party investment strategies.

In addition, the team also acts as a discretionary, or non-discretionary, provider to asset owners on a global basis across institutional, intermediary, and family office channels. The business works across all of BNY Mellon and its affiliates and subsidiaries including, but not limited to, Global Distribution, Pershing, Asset Servicing, and the various investment affiliates of BNY Mellon. BNY Mellon Advisors design and implement investment strategies that are bespoke to client needs and objectives using a myriad of asset classes, investment strategies, and overlays.

We're seeking Private Equity Portfolio Manager at Vice President level to join our Private Markets Team. This role can be located in New York, NY, Boston, MA, or Pittsburgh. This is a hybrid working role.

The primary function of the Private Markets Group is to provide clients with attractive private capital opportunities. The Private Markets Group has responsibility for selecting and monitoring private equity fund managers utilized within the Fugio Fund of Funds and other complementary solutions added to the Wealth Management and Investment Solutions platforms.  The Portfolio Manager will play a lead role in the diligence and research of venture capital and private equity funds, with a focus on the sourcing and evaluation of secondary investments across a number of fund vehicles and separately advised accounts.

Role responsibilities:

  • Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating prospective investment opportunities, including primary and secondary fund investments; conducting due diligence on primary and secondary fund investment opportunities; summarizing due diligence findings in investment recommendations;

  • Meeting with clients and new business prospects to communicate investment strategy, discuss market performance and current market conditions.

  • Attending and documenting in-person / virtual investment manager meetings and managing a pipeline of new primary and secondary fund investment opportunities and direct co-investment opportunities.

  • Identifying and incorporating industry research on investment trends and strategies to support investment decisions in private market portfolios and utilize industry data in the marketing and reporting of private funds and registered fund vehicles.

  • Meeting with clients and intermediaries as part of fundraising and reporting on performance of Fugio funds and advisory engagements.

  • Supporting the refinement and oversight of investment performance and holdings tracking / analytics within a reporting system.

  • Frequent travel to meet with clients, intermediaries and fund managers is expected.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.  MBA and/or CFA preferred.

  • 3-5 years of prior private equity investment experience, including secondary fund investment analysis.

  • Strong quantitative skills and a background in financial modelling and analysis.

  • Ability to write concisely and coherently and a proven track record of creating and preparing presentations.

  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to learn BNY Mellon proprietary systems.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $113,100 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.  #LI-Hybrid
