As Vice President of Portfolio and Program Management, youll report to the CEO and will spearhead product team leadership (PTL), portfolio management, program management (PM), and alliance management efforts across Alector's broad product portfolio. You will lead and organize cross-functional teams focused on the development of each program, driving alignment on product development strategy and objectives. This involves complete life cycle planning and new product growth opportunities, including technology improvements, companion diagnostics and supporting technology. Moreover, you will define our project management processes and tools to be used to ensure effective and efficient management of our programs from research to clinic to commercial. You'll manage alliances with existing external partners, enabling successful collaborations. You will be influential in guiding Alector's direction, and championing and developing Alectors culture.

  • Leading product team leadership, portfolio, and program management efforts to ensure efficient and effective management of our drug development process
  • Developing strategic goals for our programs, identifying critical development objectives, and helping everyone get on the same page
  • Leading cross-functional teams comprising people from diverse disciplines - from discovery research, to preclinical and clinical, to commercial
  • Translating our goals into a plan of action; identifying priorities that support our business strategies while ensuring execution of these objectives on time and on budget
  • Driving risk are identification and mitigation planning
  • Developing and leading processes, procedures and tools to improve departmental functioning and program management

Location/Division Specific Information US - California - South San Francisco How will you make an impact? The Senior Director, Oncology Product Management will provide leadership and execution to manage the Oncology business in the Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Division's (CSD) Oncology assay business in the Life Sciences Group (LSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This person will help define the overarching oncology strategy and go-to-market plan in collaboration with the broader executive leadership team. This includes defining the product roadmap, the market access strategy (i.e., reimbursement), and clinical informatics strategy. Lead team focused on developing and managing the complete portfolio of oncology NGS assays in the OncomineTM family of products. In addition, the overarching go-to-market strategy includes guiding the biopharma partnering strategy for IVD products and leading the Diagnostics Partnering business development team. Our targeted sequencing assays are built on the foundation of the Ion TorrentTM platform and AmpliSeqTM technology. The products we develop are used by clinical researchers and molecular pathology labs on a routine basis to enable precision genomics. S/he will be responsible for development of product portfolio strategy, product definition, portfolio positioning, and lifecycle management. What will you do? Key Responsibilities * Manage and lead the solid tumor, heme-oncology, liquid biopsy, and immuno-oncology product management team and drive market readiness in delivering new and existing products for the global market * Work collaboratively with CSD commercial team (sales and market development) to drive commercial strategy and growth for the business. This includes defining and developing clinical engagement strategy with key opinion leaders and market access strategies with payers * Responsible for worldwide supply, demand, revenue, margin, and pricing for product portfolio; update and present forecasts regularly to management, finance, and manufacturing teams * Lead and leverage analyses of business and market trends to define customer requirements, competitive strategy, and business opportunities for increasing customer and business value * Manage the overall portfolio roadmap and lifecycle for new assay development and corresponding business cases, with due emphasis on revenue growth, install base, and profitability for the portfolio. This includes balancing the investment profile across the portfolio to deliver IVD and RUO sales strategies * Lead teams through new product development processes from concept through commercialization, including voice of customer research, definition of customer and product requirements and value proposition, manage product launches and sales training to achieve timely launches and commercial objectives * Lead overall diagnostic partnering strategy and accountable for overall revenue from biopharma partnering activities for companion diagnostics (CDx) * Lead and balance internal product development and regulatory activities with commercial execution of CDx deals to manage and deliver NGS IVD strategy * Must have proven ability to build relationships and guide teams which include representatives from multiple functional areas, including R&D, Sales, Program Management, and Manufacturing * Must have experience in managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict within teams * Must have excellent communication skills including oral, written and presentation techniques Leadership Responsibilities * Provide thought leadership to overall CSD Oncology product strategy and direction. Collaborates with CSD leadership to successfully commercialize new products, enter new markets, and achieve share and profitability goals by product category and market segments * Lead and represent CSD oncology business from a product management perspective in critical customer and precision medicine efforts to drive commercial success and key account efforts * Lead major commercialization and/or product development initiatives driving multi-functional efforts to deliver revenue objectives and key strategic market positions * Effectively represents Oncology Product Management and key internal leadership meetings, communicating with colleagues, global leadership team and senior management on progress against objectives and future plans for driving performance * Collaborate with other Thermo Fisher organizations to leverage existing capabilities and resources. How will you get here? Education Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree, or higher preferred Experience * 10+ years of direct product management or marketing experience in the diagnostics, genomics, or medical devices industry; Next generation sequencing experience required * In-depth clinical oncology market experience, with familiarity of the oncology diagnostics and treatment landscape from oncologists and molecular pathologists is required * Knowledgeable or demonstrated aptitude to understand biomarkers used for diagnostics development and biopharma drug development in accordance with clinical trial study designs * Demonstrated effectiveness in marketing, product management or strategy role including participating in market analysis, planning and new product development required * Team management experience to delegate and empower teams to achieve success by setting team objectives, guidelines, and removing obstacles Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * A team player with cross-functional leadership experience that understands collaboration is key to success.
