The Vice President, Partner Management & New Product Development is a key member of the Global Cards leadership team. The Global Cards team is responsible for driving material profit to Marriot International in 2018, with significant growth goals in subsequent years. The leader in this role is key to both executing the current strategy as well as creating the growth blueprint.
Specifically, he/she will be responsible for working with their direct reports, internal colleagues and bank partners on building the strategic plan and roadmap to deliver on Cards long term goals. Additionally, the role is the key point of contact for the banks on all aspects of partner relationships, including negotiations, performance updates, business reviews, issue management and joint operating committees. The leader will also manage Cards reporting, create the CEO Quarterly Business Reviews and other leadership updates, and manage the team budget.
This role also leads the new product development function, which includes executing new product builds and capability enhancements. He/she will also be accountable for development of the medium and long term new product roadmap, which includes developing the customer insight and competitive intelligence to propose new product constructs, build the value propositions, create the business case, and ensure execution of the enhancements.
Education and Experience
4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or related major and 10+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance;
12+ years of relevant professional experience in partnerships, strategic planning, marketing, product management, banking or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance
Experience working in financial services, banking, or credit card issuer preferred
Track record of creating and syndicating strategies in a global company
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Lead opportunity sizing to help organization create appropriate stretch goals
Assess and recommend growth levers
From the above inputs and working with key stakeholders, create the strategic transformation plan
Ensure linkages with entire organization in order to successfully implement plan
Set agenda for both bank partners, including strategic priorities, key initiatives and business reviews
Manage and close all partner issues, including contractual, customer and regulatory
Define cobrand negotiation strategy for medium and long term
Oversee overall business reporting, in close partnership with Finance
Lead CEO quarterly business reviews as well as other executive updates
Oversee the department technology and marketing budget
New Product Development
Oversee the development of the medium and long term new product roadmap, which includes developing the customer insight and competitive intelligence to propose new product constructs,
From the above input, create the value propositions with support for why they will profitably win in the marketplace
Create the business case and ensure it gets approved by both internal and external stakeholders
Work with internal and external stakeholders to execute the new products/value propositions
