What this job involves: JLL is currently seeking a Senior Vice President or a Vice President to join our Higher Education Advisory team who will serve as a key leader for higher education services. The position requires someone with a deep understanding of the key issues facing higher education real estate, facilities, and finance leaders; a broad network and relationships with institutions of higher education; strong business development acumen; the ability to help create and then execute an aggressive growth plan; and a passion for making an impact on the higher education sector through the services that JLL offers.

About Higher Education & Public Institutions:

JLL's Public Institutions group ("PI") provides a wide range of real estate services to public agencies and higher education clients. We identify and implement strategies that allow organizations to fully leverage their real property in close alignment with their organizational missions. Our practice has grown rapidly over the past decade and is an industry leader in providing complex development advisory and portfolio planning services to mission-focused and public entities. We work on some of the largest and most transformative real estate projects in the United States.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead and expand the advisory services for higher education institutions.

  • Develop and manage a multi-million-dollar portfolio of higher education advisory business.

  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership on major projects and initiatives.

  • Collaborate with other JLL business lines to promote a unified approach to client solutions.

  • Engage with clients and prospects through regular travel, developing strong relationships and securing new business opportunities.

  • Represent JLL at industry events, securing speaking roles to enhance the firm's thought leadership in the sector.

  • Innovate and propose new service lines to meet the evolving needs of higher education clients.

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

  • Expertise in higher education real estate: A deep understanding of the key issues, trends, and challenges facing higher education institutions in relation to their real estate, facilities, and finance is essential. This includes knowledge of campus planning, student housing, academic facilities, research facilities, public-private partnerships, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Network and relationships with higher education institutions: Having a broad network and established relationships with key decision-makers in higher education institutions is crucial. This includes university presidents, CFOs, facilities directors, and other relevant stakeholders. Strong connections within the higher education sector will enable effective business development and client relationship management.

  • Business development acumen: The ability to identify opportunities, generate leads, and secure new business is important. Strong business development skills, including prospecting, networking, and pitching, will contribute to the growth of the Higher Education Advisory team and the achievement of revenue targets.

  • Strategic thinking and planning: The role requires the ability to help create and execute an aggressive growth plan for the team. This involves analyzing market trends, identifying target markets, and developing strategies to position JLL as a trusted advisor and provider of real estate services to higher education institutions.

  • Communication and presentation skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively conveying ideas, proposals, and recommendations to higher education clients, internal stakeholders, and industry groups. The ability to deliver compelling presentations and written materials that resonate with the target audience is crucial.

  • Passion for higher education: A genuine passion for the higher education sector and a desire to make a positive impact through the services that JLL offers are important qualities. Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with higher education institutions and contributing to their success is highly valued.

  • Adaptability and resilience: The ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment is vital. This includes being adaptable to changing market conditions, being comfortable with ambiguity, and maintaining resilience when faced with challenges or setbacks.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Real Estate or a related field.

  • Over 10 years of experience in higher education advisory or business development, with a strong network in the sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage significant business portfolios.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Willingness to travel regularly.

Estimated compensation for this position is:

180,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD per year

The pay range listed is a total compensation range including bonus, if applicable. The provided range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
