We are seeking a Vice President/Senior Vice President to join the Power Opportunities Group, also known as the GFI Energy Group. GFI targets control private equity investments in mid-sized power and energy businesses. The Group manages approximately $3 billion in assets and is currently investing its $1.4 billion Power Opportunities Fund V, L.P. This individual will work in the Brentwood, CA office, where the GFI team is based.

As a member of small deal team, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Involvement with all aspects of the investment process;

  • Conducting industry research and identifying sector trends and themes;

  • Sourcing investment opportunities by networking with intermediaries, industry executives and directly with target companies;

  • Performing business, accounting and legal due diligence;

  • Evaluating, negotiating and structuring term sheets, purchase documentation, financing commitments, management agreements and related documentation;

  • Interacting with portfolio company management teams, boards of directors and outside advisors to help drive value creation and report on their performance; and

  • Managing relationships with accounting and tax professionals, attorneys, consultants, advisers and bankers.


  • Minimum 5 years investment experience with a top-tier private equity firm and/or investment bank;

  • Demonstrated competency in all aspects of investment opportunity execution including: analysis, due diligence, company valuations, preparing investment memorandums; exposure to negotiations, structuring, funding and closing deals strongly preferred;

  • Exceptional skills in analyzing investment opportunities, market information and financial statements; and

  • Proven ability to understand complex deal structures.

Bachelor's degree with honors from a top university or college.

The position is responsible for the management and development of effective data capture, storage, identification, tracking and retrieval of client data. Participates in coordination of meetings and preparation of supporting materials to conduct analysis, tasks, and final product for the client. * Works with other QHR consultants on multi-disciplinary consulting engagements. * Maintains records to support approach, methods and results. * Assists with the development of reports to track business metrics and trends. * Delivers client reports within 30 days of an exit conference KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Ability to summarize, analyze and convert data into useful, presentable formats. * Understanding of basic project management principles. * Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. * Experience using internet for best practice research. * Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including presentation skills. * Demonstrated proficiency in converting data into actionable information * Advanced Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint computer skills. Database applications, mapping or other specialized software applications desirable. * IBM Watson Health (Truven) experience a plus WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS: * BS/BA with * Healthcare related experience strongly preferred. * Previous experience directly related to creation, manipulation, and management of complex data sets, analytical tools, and database applications for healthcare organizations is strongly preferred. * Travel required.
